In early May 2022 I was throwing up and had balance issues and had a drop on my left side. Thank God my Honey recognized I was having a stroke. I didn’t know. She managed to get an ambulance to come (even when 911 was unavailable) and I was taken from Lac La Hache to 100 Mile House (about 25 minutes away). The staff at 100 Mile House was wonderful and they did what they could, but unfortunately, they didn’t have the resources they needed so I was placed in another ambulance and transported to the Williams Lake hospital. That was about an hour away. Again, the staff were wonderful but the same thing happened. They couldn’t deal with me the way they needed to. So, this time I was placed in an Air Ambulance and flown from Williams Lake to Kamloops. I appreciate that I was flown to Kamloops and the expense that was involved. However, it would have possibly made a difference if 100 Mile could do what Williams Lake was able to and I was flown from 100 Mile to Kamloops. There is an airport at 108 Mile that could have been used. Perhaps the impact and issues I’m now faced with could have been reduced. We will never know.
