Beware - Scammers are Everywhere

Today, I got a call on my cell from with a Caller-ID of someone in Lethbridge, Alberta.  I recall getting a similar call last week, but did not pick it up.

Today, I actually answered the cell call from Lethbridge, but of course it was blank on the other end.  Then I cursed myself for answering the Call.

One hour later I got a call from the Calgary Police Investigative Department about a call I made to them 15 minutes earlier.  Of course I did NOT make such a call.  I confirmed with him the cell number and yes indeed it was my cell number.

As I had initially worried about, my cell number got Spoofed by the simple act of picking up the cell call and saying Hello!

There’s nothing I can do about this except get a new cell number from Telus, if this becomes problematic.

Sure hope my Spoofed cell number is not used to call 911.

LEARNING:  DO NOT ANSWER CELL CALLS IF YOU SEE A CALLER-ID YOU DON’T RECOGNIZE.

All I did was answer the phone!!!
